Call for papers for a PAMJ special issue on:

Innovations in Measles and Rubella Elimination in the African Region

Guest Editors:

Measles vaccination prevented more than 21 million deaths globally, during 2000–2017. Despite this enormous public health success, measles elimination efforts are facing various challenges including the inability of health systems to reach more children with the recommended two doses of measles-containing vaccine. Global first dose measles vaccination coverage has plateaued for nearly a decade, mass vaccination campaigns are not reaching all children, vaccine hesitancy fueled by increasingly vocal anti-vaccine groups is posing new challenges, rumours spread even faster than the disease through social media, sustained outbreaks are occurring in countries that had virtually eliminated measles.

The Pan African Medical Journal is calling for papers to be submitted for a special issue on Innovations in Measles and Rubella Elimination. The special issue aims to document innovations that have impacted or have the potential to help accelerate progress toward measles elimination targets by focusing on immunization service delivery, community demand for vaccination and advocacy, injection safety, supply chain management and cold chain, immunization financing, measles laboratory-supported surveillance, campaign planning an implementation, outbreak response, and more.

Submissions will be accepted in the following categories:

All manuscripts need to adhere to the Pan African Medical Journal instructions for authors [http://www.panafrican-med-journal.com/instruction.php] and be submitted through the online journal manuscript submission system (Submit as Supplement – Innovation in Measles and Rubella Elimination).
