DSH*Global health community commits over $630 million in aggressive push for polio eradication

According to a press release received by our editorial team on January 11 2009 from the Rotary International, the Gates Foundation, and the British and German governments committed more than 630 million US dollars in new funds to fight polio. This injection of fresh cash is surely welcome by the Polio Eradication Initiative. Polio is a crippling and sometimes fatal disease that still paralyzes children in parts of Africa and Asia and threatens children everywhere. Download original press release here (PDF file)
